How hot does this get and can I use it to cut PVC Trim board for my home's window trim - what is that/4 inch? Can I cut 3/4" board with this - I'd love to NOT have PVC sawdust everywhere.

have you ever got beer from a tap? tilt your cup a little and pour your material down the edge of the cup to avoid bubbles. if you heat your molds in an oven around 150 to 200f it avoids moisture and makes better products , even the 1 to 1 ratio stuff. unmixed poly and air bubbles are the enemy. we all in whole machine shop i worked atput our poly resin in vacum pots while we would melt down the mocca crystals. then put your dye in that. enough for the whole order so the color is consistent. you should hire me i have a lot of training and experience with poly and making molds. im also a master welder. it seems like you are doing some things out of order man and not taking care when you mix. you can use a dremel with a rum sander to trim them use it lightly and if you get marks. flame kiss them. the ones with out bubbles look excellent for someone self taught

use the ones you don't use maybe put on some Crocs

you should be pouring your material down the edge of your cups to keep air bubbles out. air bubbles in poly is like having porosity in a weld. it ruins them and makes them brittle. i have forgot mold release on brand new molds before lol my stuff was mostly stainless and aluminum so i couldnt smash them. you need to keep your scale clean too my man. cmon pull up. i hope your compensating your weight on your scale for your dye and you can keep your color consistant . you account for that by using a oven , all molds in an oven. no humidity in there. you should hire me im retired and bored and i skate too. also sick of Philadelphia and the crime

i had a job pouring poly when i was in high school in houston. use silicone spray heat your mold douse it with the spray. wipe it down and spray again. it cant be runny or it will mark your wheels. also if you have a laithe , spin your molds and just use a fine grit or steel wool to smooth your molds to smooth it and not leave flat spots. i actually had a mold for spitfire wheels i made from a harder poly (70d) . your mold has to be warm. mix your poly after you put your poly res in as vacum pot. being careful not to bring air into it. pour slowly down the very edge of the mold SLOWLY. the first pour your mold might be hard to break apart. spray wipe spray again and next time they will pop right a part. you can shoot compessed air in there too to pop your parts out. sometimes my stuff would shoot across the shop lol

I'm still working up the guts to cut my deck! I need to increase the wheelbase all the while, switched nose to the tail & vice versa. I don't mind a slightly smaller nose and steeper tail so 🤷

I know after you found out that the 3D printed pieces you made didn't quite work, so then ya glued em? And from experience, U have to have @least 3 truck bolts, really 4 to get it perfect and won't move. Factory bolt🕳🕳 aren't always perfect

i have to many questions. this is one of the coolest projects. im a 50 yr old skater . i started in 85. let me test those 3d printed trucks for you. i will take them to FDR and see if they hold up.

Your wiring at 2:50 is confusing, you connected the wire on the switch side to the ring hook, then suddenly its no longer wired, and you bypass it. I feel like the most integral part of this is the wiring.

Forgive my ignorance but do the eyebolts not heat up enough to melt the pvc due to their being a larger diameter than the wire ? Do they get hot at all or is the heat concentrated only to the wire?

does the hot metal not melt the PVC at the point where the wire is held by the nut and bolt?

Have you looked into urethane additives to slow down weatherization of wheels? UV, moisture?

I know this is pretty dated, but one thing you could do is to take up a bunch of the unused airspace with something. The vacuum can evacuate much faster. (I've been using old cans of food. Sometimes their tops pull up, but so far none have opened.) I actually made a vacuum chamber basically exactly like this -- same type of chamber except the bottom vessel was stainless (top still transparent plastic), and I put a fitting on it to go to my full vacuum pump. Unfortunately, the seal shape on mine was not proper for this and the strength of the full vacuum would pull it in, breaking the air seal. Anyway. :)

What about all natural, like gettikg color from plants and flowers etc. ?

I used urethane resin bowling ball plug to fill in some holes and I tried the acrylic paint food coloring and both tried in size over flowing the holes had to drill out idk why it worked on yours maybe the pressure pot? The bowling ball plug colors are expensive as is the ball plug. I wonder if I should order the stuff you are using and test it out on an old bowling ball

You should be able to degass the 2 parts before mixing. I don't know anything about resin casting, bit just based on the physics, which are that this is not gas produced by the hardening reaction but gas already dissolved in the resin.

Water makes urethane foam. The water in the screen printing ink was probably the culprit

Im thinking of custom plywood do to the nature of my art supplies not really be suitable for the traditional long board or skateboard surface.
